Tracy Rick is in her third year teaching 4th grade Social Studies at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy along with sharing the responsibility for the school’s YES Team (Youth Encouraging Service and Spirit) and HOPs (Homeroom Outreach Projects).

As the 4th grade Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Rick looks forward to any opportunity to share her love for history with her students; including units on Our Government, Ellis Island, Florida History, U.S. States and Regions, and the Underground Railroad.

"Of course, included in all of this is the State Report," says Mrs. Rick. "Ask any former student about this because it is not to be forgotten!

Among Mrs. Rick’s main goals through the year are learning about research by pulling out small amounts of needed information from a large amount of text, and learning the beginning of note taking.  Even though those are important goals, her biggest goal is to make sure children love coming to her class because the learning is fun, hands-on, and exciting!

Assisting in coordinating YES Team and HOPs enables Mrs. Rick to work with students in all grades at SEA and various parent volunteers.  Helping the community is an enriching and awarding experience that she looks forward to every year.  Mrs. Rick believes that children should be shown how to be charitable by example, and SEA provides those opportunities throughout the year on so many levels.

Mrs. Rick completed her Bachelor’s of Arts degree at Stetson University and received her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from University of Central Florida.  She taught for 10 years in the Seminole County Public Schools before finding Sweetwater Episcopal Academy as a parent seven years ago.  It was love at first sight!  Mrs. Rick has two daughters who currently attend and adore SEA in 5th and 3rd grade.  In her free time, Mrs. Rick enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and being at the beach.
