MISSION

The YES Team at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy includes all SEA students. However, each class (K-5) selects two Representatives who attend monthly meetings and serve as leaders and role models within their respective classes. The YES Team is designed to strengthen leadership skills while increasing the students’ awareness of the needs of others and their participation in service to the school, the community, and the world beyond. The YES Team focuses on kindness, good manners, respect, responsibility, reaching out to others, and school spirit and teamwork.

ABOUT YES TEAM

Sweetwater Episcopal Academy is dedicated to teaching and to practicing the Christian virtues of kindness, good manners, respect, responsibility, and reaching out to others.  One way it accomplishes these tasks is through the school-wide YES Team.  The YES (Youth Encouraging Service and Spirit) seeks to lead by example, and to show by serving.  Each classroom (K-5th) elects two representatives who best exemplify the SEA values of kindness, good manners, respect, responsibility, thinking and reaching out to others, and teamwork.

Last year, the school-wide YES Team projects included a Thanksgiving Food Drive benefiting Loaves and Fishes, a coat drive during the extra-cold wintery weather, collecting supplies for those affected by the earthquake in Haiti, and collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House.

The YES Team meets the 1st Tuesday of every month in Chaplain Molly’s classroom, where the students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills while reaching out to their community and to others.  YES Team members make announcements in chapel, help pass out Rainbow Awards, and lead their classmates in service and spirit. Chaplain Molly serves as Faculty Coordinator.

Special leadership experience is given to a 5th grader as President, a 4th grader as VP-Treasurer, and a 3rd grader as Secretary. Speeches are given prior to their election.
