K4 & Kindergarten

This is a time when children should fall in love with school. Our K4 & Kindergarten classrooms make learning fun, while they build the foundation of their education. The basic skills are introduced and practiced in engaging ways. Our students move toward mastery through the use of an integrated, hands-on curriculum and are encouraged to develop inquisitive, creative minds and build confidence in their abilities.

At Sweetwater Episcopal Academy we foster a child's natural sense of wonder while we prepare them for independent reading, writing and problem-solving. We harness the power of fun!

Small Group Instruction

As they move through centers, students benefit from direct instruction from their teachers at their ability level. Our teachers' assistants are used academically to guide our students to fun activities that reinforce concepts.

P.E. and Recess

Free play is essential for development. K4–2nd grade students enjoy outside P.E. and recess every day and the opportunity for weekly outside lunch. Daily P.E. also provides opportunities for movement and teaches sportsmanship. Our annual Mini-Triathlon shows students that when they train hard, they can accomplish anything.

Enrichment

In addition to Social Studies and Science, our K4 & Kindergarten students enjoy Art, Music, Spanish, Religion and library time. This rounds out their day and makes learning more fun.

Enrichment Activities

At SEA, we believe that enrichment programs are vital to a well-rounded education. They help develop confidence and social skills from a young age. Research has shown that learning Art, Music and other enrichment skills can help children excel in all areas.

Art

Art is a valued subject at SEA and our curriculum is aligned to our other subject areas, such as Language Arts, Social Studies and Mathematics. We allow our students to express themselves, develop gross and fine motor skills, use their critical thinking skills while learning how to safely use new materials and processes.

Religion

Chapel time is our weekly gathering as a school community—a time to acknowledge our membership in the human family under God, our national identity as Americans, and our participation in the Kind Zone. Our weekly chapel service is student centered.
